Following the recent vote by the IWF Executive committee considering what rulesets should be offered at future World individual championship (WIC) and continental individual championship (CIC) events the following motion has been carried:

Each IWF WIC and CIC organising committee must offer whichever ruleset was the most popular set at the previous WIC and any CIC held after the previous WIC and in exceptional cases, a set specified by the Executive Committee. Should such a mandatory rule set not achieve at least 16 paid-up entries by the deadline for entry, then the rule set may be withdrawn at the host's discretion.

Other rulesets may be offered purely at the hosts discretion.

The winner of the period as played to the most popular ruleset for such period shall be known as the World champion for such period (such as, Ancients, Pike & Shot, World War II, etc.). The ruleset that receives the most paid-up entries and players from at least 3 countries and 2 continents at the event per period shall be deemed to be the most popular ruleset.

Winners of games as played to less popular rulesets shall be known as the IWF Champion for such rule set (such as, DBM, Warrior, Shock of Impact, etc.)
